Sonavi Labs , a medical device and software company from the Johns Hopkins community, was selected as a finalist in the AI, Robotics and Voice category for the 12th annual SXSW Pitch® (formerly SXSW Accelerator).
Maryland Health IT Company Sonavi Labs Wins Pitch Contest at Arab Health 2020
Sonavi Labs, Inc., a medical device and software company, has won the annual Innov8 Talks pitch competition at this year’s Arab Health conference in Dubai. The company presented its debut device – Feelix, a digital stethoscope platform including respiratory diagnostic devices and supportive software – during the four-day competition, and ultimately took home the grand prize in the final round. The Baltimore City business, which traveled as part of the Maryland delegation, will receive a free booth at next year’s conference.
Sonavi Labs Wins Innov8 Talks at Arab Health
Sonavi Labs, represented by CEO, Ellington West, was named the winner of the INNOV8 Talks pitch competition held at the Arab Health 2020 conference in Dubai. The company presented its inaugural product line, the Feelix smart stethoscope platform, to a panel of judges that included investors and executives for global health companies such as Philips, the American Hospital in Dubai and the Dubai Science Park. Arab Health saw over 55,000 attendees at this year’s event, including Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Prime Minister of the UAE.
State Leads Delegation to Arab Health 2020, Awards 16 ExportMD Grants
The Maryland Department of Commerce this week is leading a delegation with Lt. Governor Boyd K. Rutherford and numerous Maryland companies to Arab Health 2020, one of the world’s largest healthcare exhibitions. Held in Dubai, this is the seventh year Maryland Commerce has exhibited at the trade show, promoting the state’s healthcare assets as well as a number of small and mid-size companies to a global audience.

Sonavi Labs has been selected as a Deep Tech Pioneer and will be attending theDeep Tech Weekand Global Summit in Paris, FR, March 9th through 13th, hosted by theHello Tomorrow Organization. The company was selected from over 5,000applicants from 128 different countries, and will be able to attend invite-only meetings with investors and business leaders from the region.

Sonavi Labs, in its first official seed fundraising round, has raised over $1 million from investors. In securing the funding, while avoiding the more traditional venture capital route, CEO and Co-Founder, Ellington West has solidified her place in history as one of the very few African American leaders in the healthcare technology industry to raise more than $1 million in funding. The Johns Hopkins spinout has been building excitement over the past two years across the Baltimore startup community and is now positioning itself on a global stage.

Sonavi Labs Named Finalist in Nationwide/Blue Vine Capital Pitch Competition
Baltimore based startup, Sonavi Labs will be competing in the finals of the Nationwide Bluevine pitch competition at the Nationwide Insurance headquarters in Columbus, OH. The competition will award a grand prize of $100,000 to the winner, along with additional prizes for the first and second runners up.

Sonavi Labs Wins Startup World Cup Northeast Regional Finals
On Friday, May 3rd, Sonavi Labs CEO, Ellington West claimed the title of Northeast Regional Champion in the Startup World Cup for Sonavi Labs. The Executive team, consisting of West and Brandon Dottin-Haley, traveled to Boston for the day to pitch in front of a room of investors, business leaders, and innovative entrepreneurs, and ultimately earned the top spot among the group of 10 startups that were invited to pitch.
Feelix Wins Best Prototype at Display Week
Sonavi Labs will be conducting live demonstrations of the soon-to-be-released screening device, Feelix at Display Week in San Jose, CA , May 14th – 16th. The digital stethoscope, set to launch in late 2019, has re-engineered the most widely used medical tool to make it fit for the 21st century. By deploying active noise cancellation, and a proprietary classification algorithm onto their device, Sonavi Labs is poised to transform the respiratory care industry.

In a unanimous decision on Friday, May 1st, Sonavi Labs board of directors named Ellington West, Chief Executive Officer. Ms. West, also the Co-Founder of Sonavi Labs along with Ian McLane, played a crucial role in the formation and fundraising initiatives that will support the company’s first product launch, the Feelix platform.
